Brief description of the breed

According to the standards of the Cat Fanciers Association, the ragdoll has a large and wide wedge-shaped head. In this case, all sides of the head should have the same length and end with a rounded mouth. The eyes of these cats are bright blue with an oval shape. The ears are medium in size and have rounded tips, slightly tilted forward. The head is supported by a strong neck, smoothly turning into a massive long body with a wide, powerful skeleton. The paws are also distinguished by their massiveness and moderate length.

Wool cats ragdoll silky, medium length. The hair on the head is much shorter than on the rest of the body. At the same time there is a kind of ruff around the neck. Depending on the variety, several types of color are allowed: double color, plain or multi-colored.

Ragdolls are very attached to their family members and always look forward to their arrival. They love to be held and sleep in the same bed with the owner. The word most often used to describe the character of a Ragdoll is accommodating. True, this does not mean at all that pets of this breed are inactive. They love to play with toys and participate in all family activities.

Be prepared for the fact that you will not only have to caress your pet, but also provide a sufficient number of active games. Walking on the street is also considered mandatory, but with the strict accompaniment of the owner or another family member. Ragdolls quickly learn everything, especially if they use positive reinforcement in the form of praise or treats in the learning process.

Cats of this breed will always remind you with their gentle voice that they are hungry or want to take a walk. Ragdolls have a wonderful character and demeanor. They like to climb high, for example, on cabinets, a sofa or shelves. At the same time, the animal tries to always stay at the same height with its owner and family members.

The Ragdoll has a medium length coat with a slight undercoat. This suggests that a significant amount of hair will not spread around the house. But this does not mean at all that cats of this breed do not need care at all.

Ragdolls are combed out on average twice a week with a special metal brush. It is best to use a professional brush to prevent tangling of dead hairs. Please note that you need to comb the entire body, including the paws of the animal. After combing with a metal brush, it is recommended to comb the pet with a special rubber brush, which will remove the remaining hairs.

You should also be aware that changing seasons, as well as hormonal fluctuations in the animal's body, can lead to an increase in the length of the coat. Hair length reaches its peak, as a rule, in the cold season. Neutered and neutered cats of this breed have a fluffier coat all year round.

During hair care, it is necessary to carefully monitor the cleanliness of the hair in the anus. Bathe cats as needed. Regular procedures also include brushing the teeth, which prevents the occurrence of dental problems in animals. As for the claws, they are usually sheared once every two weeks. Every day, it is necessary to wipe the corners of the Ragdoll's eyes with a special napkin to remove all secretions. In this case, for each eye you need to use a separate napkin.

Check your ears weekly for dirt, infection, or inflammation. Treat the auricles with a special solution prescribed by a veterinarian. You can also use a damp cloth soaked in a one-to-one mixture of vinegar and water. The use of cotton swabs for ear canal care should be avoided.

To prevent the occurrence of an unpleasant odor, you must constantly keep the toilet tray in perfect cleanliness. Please note that the ragdoll tray must be large enough, the animal must have enough space to sit down without any constraint.

Do not worry about the fact that your growing pet has small wrinkles on the stomach. For cats of the Ragdoll breed, this feature is characteristic. By the age of four, the growth stage of the organism disappears and the animal, if not overfed, will have a normal shape.

Due to the fact that the Ragdoll is a very calm cat, it is better to protect it from independent walks on the street.
