Fighting dogs have existed for many centuries, and possibly more than one millennium. It is known for certain that they were originally used for protection and defense against enemies. That is why, speaking of fighting breeds, we mean animals bred to protect people, to fight with animals, for military purposes, to protect property and hunt dangerous animals. They have the following qualities: masculinity, perseverance, indefatigability.

In ancient times, fighting dogs were widely used to guard herds of cattle. They also hunted cougars and wild boars. Speaking about the function of the guards, we mean not just warning the owner about a possible danger, but also the direct activity of the four-legged to prevent such a danger, that is, the readiness to engage in battle with the enemy. Fighting dogs coped with this mission perfectly. Not so long ago, there were even special schools that prepared real fighting dogs. Now this practice is banned, as such training programs can turn the animal into a killer.

Modern fighting breeds are not used for their original purpose, except in cases of illegal organization of fights. The fact is that even today there are still unscrupulous dog breeders who train and instill aggression and a thirst for fighting in their pets. Due to this, the owners of such animals involve their pets in illegal fights, earning money from dog fights. The group of fighting breeds includes not only big dogs, but also small size, which were widely used, and are still sometimes used, for hunting small animals. It is worth noting that small fighting dogs were common in royal courts in the Middle Ages. They were excellent rat hunters, and therefore they perfectly coped with rodents, which earned them their popularity among the monarchs.

The ancestors of these dogs were animals of small stature, with a massive body, a large head and an extremely frightening voice. Fighting dogs were bred for various purposes, but their main function is to hunt dangerous animals, including: bears, tigers or lions. Taking into account the foregoing, it becomes clear that, despite the fact that today fighting dogs are not used for their intended purpose, nevertheless, at the genetic level, each such animal has retained natural fighting instincts.

Fighting dog breeds are distinguished by their perseverance, courage, amazing intelligence and ingenuity, they are physically developed, have incredible strength, in general, their modern descendants have retained all the main features of their distant ancestors. This is what gave rise to the stereotype that all fighting dogs - these are potential killers who should not be kept among people. In fact, this is absolutely not true. Some four-legged fighting groups are excellent companions and loyal friends.

Many will be surprised, but cases of bites by fighting dogs are extremely rare. Some dog breeders quite often refer them to the breeds recommended for keeping in families with children. Dominance and leadership are the main reasons for possible aggression on the part of the animal. It is the suppression of the leadership of a fighting dog by the owner that can cause her aggression. True, this happens in cases where the owners do not pay due attention to training the dog. Therefore, the manifestation of aggression - it is more the fault of the man than the animal.

Fighting dogs are not the kind of animals that are recommended for beginner dog breeders. The complexity of raising and training an animal may be beyond the power of a beginner. With the right approach to training fighting dogs, excellent good-natured companions grow out of them. In addition to regular training, physical training plays an important role. Due to the fact that fighting breeds are distinguished by powerful physical training, the owner of such a dog should be prepared for numerous active exercises.

Thus, the decision to acquire a fighting dog must be weighed. Everyone should be aware of what duties will fall on the shoulders of the owner of a dog, a fighting breed. If you are at least a little insecure about the possibility of keeping an animal, in no case should you take responsibility, otherwise, instead of positive and pleasure, you will only get disappointment, and most importantly, the dog will suffer!
